As a paragliding guide based in Barcelona, I have always followed one clear rule:
I never recommend anything to my clients that I haven’t personally tested first.
There are times when weather conditions do not allow flying in January, not only in Barcelona but also in other parts of Spain. When this happens, I prefer to look for a reliable alternative rather than forcing an experience that won’t be enjoyable or safe.
For this reason, this winter I decided to travel to Morocco to fly there. The goal was not to replace Barcelona or promote a new destination, but simply to personally verify whether this option could be suitable for my clients when flying at home is not possible.
During this trip, I flew in Arguergour and stayed in one of the houses owned by my friend Faisal, a very special place designed for pilots, located right next to the landing area, and managed with the same philosophy of care and attention that I apply at Fly With Xirli.
My decision to fly to Morocco in January was directly linked to the weather forecast in Barcelona. Rather than waiting without a clear alternative, I preferred to use that time to explore, fly, and understand another destination properly.
I already knew Morocco from previous visits, but this trip allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the flying conditions, logistics, and overall experience from the point of view of a pilot and guide.
This way, if a client contacts me to fly in Barcelona in January and conditions are not favourable, I can speak from real experience.
Arguergour is a well-known paragliding area offering consistent conditions and a large, comfortable landing zone. One important detail is that the accommodation is located very close to the landing area, which simplifies daily logistics.
Flying here feels relaxed and well organised, without the pressure often found in more crowded or commercial flying spots. This balance between flying quality and comfort was a key point for me during this trip.
I want to clearly state that this recommendation is not a parallel business for me. I do not earn money from accommodation, transport, or local services.
My intention is simply to take care of my clients properly. I only recommend places I have personally visited, flown, and experienced. In the future, I plan to visit and test other flying areas, both in Spain and abroad, before recommending them.
This approach allows me to maintain the same level of trust and consistency that my clients expect from Fly With Xirli.
During my stay in Arguergour, I was accommodated in one of the houses prepared by my friend Faisal, located just next to the paragliding landing area.
This is not a hotel nor a standard guesthouse. It’s a unique type of accommodation designed for pilots who value comfort, serenity, and proximity to the flying site.
The houses are part of Maison Faisal Marrakech, a place created with great attention to detail, where pilots can rest properly, enjoy good food, and disconnect without being in a crowded or noisy environment.
If you want to better understand the philosophy behind this accommodation and what to expect when staying there, you can find more information on Faisal’s website here:

Pilots can enjoy good food, peaceful surroundings, and the freedom to either share moments with others or simply rest, read, or enjoy the garden and patio in total tranquillity.
This type of accommodation plays an important role in the overall flying experience.
Throughout the trip, I had a dedicated local driver who made everything much easier, both for Faisal and for me. He was waiting for me at Marrakech airport and drove us directly to Arguergour.
He took us to the take-off whenever needed, helped with shopping trips in Marrakech, and finally drove me back to the airport on my departure day. This level of logistical support makes the experience far more comfortable.
Pilots can reach Arguergour on their own, but having a driver who knows the area and regularly works with paragliding pilots is a valuable option.
Flying in Arguergour confirmed that Morocco can be a solid and enjoyable option when flying in Barcelona is not possible. The conditions, environment, and rhythm of the days created a very balanced experience between flying and rest.
This is exactly what I want to be sure of before recommending a destination.
If you are considering flying in January and have doubts about conditions in Barcelona, this experience may give you a clear and realistic alternative tested by me, so you can decide with confidence. Feel free to contact me, I’ll be happy to share more details and help you personally.
